Rental Policies at Newark Liberty International (EWR) Airport


Additional drivers must meet all qualifications as the primary driver in regards to age, passport and license requirements. The additional driver fee is per rental day - USD/10

NOTE - the latest RESERVATION time is 1 HOUR prior to closing.
If you made a reservation directly with Fox Rent a Car at www.foxrentacar.com or our call center, please use the same source to cancel your reservation. Fox does not charge a cancellation fee but does request such cancellation notice as soon as travel plans have changed.

If you made a reservation through another provider (Expedia, Priceline etc.) please use the same source to cancel your reservation. Some providers may charge for the cancellation of a reservation if not canceled within a specific time frame. In order to alleviate such charges (cancellation fee or penalty) check with the provider and cancel the reservation directly with the provider.
CURRENCY CONVERSION - The estimated total is displayed in U.S. Dollars. The actual rate you pay will be calculated by converting the U.S. Dollar (USD) amount into the local currency using an exchange rate established by the local rental company. Your credit or debit card company may convert the amount back into USD at a lower rate, and may apply additional conversion fees and surcharges. Because conversion rates may differ, the final total USD charge to your credit or debit card may be higher than the USD total rate estimated on this website.
Valid Drivers License and major credit card must be presented upon arrival at rental counter. Name on credit card and Drivers License must match.
International renters must also present a passport and a valid drivers license from their country of residence. If the license is of non-Latin alphabet an international driving license will be required.
MULTIPLE or DUPLICATE RESERVATIONS - If you require multiple vehicles for the same or overlapping time periods please make sure to use a different name for each reservation otherwise the duplicate name reservation will automatically be canceled. FOX will not be responsible for any canceled reservations.

GAS
Vehicles must be returned with the same amount of fuel as at the start of rental to avoid refueling charges.
Vehicles may be driven into Canada. They do not require presentation of liability protection letters, certificates or stickers at customs. A passport is now required to enter Canada. Canadian customs and excise regulations prohibit Canadian residents from driving United States rental vehicles in Canada and returning to the United States.
After the confirmed pick up date and time reservations will be honored for a period of 2 hours.
IN CASE OF DELAYED ARRIVALS - You must contact the location directly to inform of the delay and prior to the scheduled arrival time in order for the car to be held. Fox Call Center is unable to assist in these matters. See SHUTTLE policy for location contact number. Every effort will be made to accommodate based on fleet availability. Location will confirm at time of contact.
Third party Minimum liability Insurance is included in the rental rates, as long as the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) is available for an additional daily charge for each rental day. SLI is a secondary insurance product that picks up where primary liability (state statutory limits) leaves off. When combined with primary liability coverage, SLI provides the renter and any authorized driver up to $1,000,000 of liability protection for third party claims due to bodily injury or property damage. In order for SLI to pay on a claim, however, the state statutory limits must first at least be satisfied. The policy will respond only after all other available insurance has been exhausted. NOTE - SLI is available at Newark Airport only, not offered at JFK.

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) is available for purchase at the time of rental. In most states, in the event of any other loss or damage to the car, regardless of fault, your financial responsibility extends to the full value of the car at the time of rental, less its salvage value, plus expenses for towing, storage impound fees, an administrative fee and a reasonable charge for loss of use. If your responsibility differs in the state in which you rent, it will be stated in the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. LDW insurance deductible is USD/$1000. Cost per day USD/19.95

Roadside Service Assistance Program (RSA) if you purchase our Roadside Service Assistance (RSA) we will waive all or a portion of the cost of a roadside assistance service call. Restrictions and limitations apply; please ask for a brochure at time of rental. Cost per day USD/4.95
Unlimited mileage applies to renters flying into Newark Airport or JFK Airport with proof of round trip ticket for sedans and SUVs. 150 miles per day applies for vans. Excess mileage is USD/00.25 per mile.
All other renters will be subject to mileage restriction of 100 miles per day. Excess mileage is USD/00.25 per mile.
One-way rentals are available between FOX airport locations in New York City and New Jersey. One-way fee will be reflected in the total price.
DEPOSITS
When using a credit card an AUTHORIZATION equal to the estimated amount of the rental plus an additional AUTHORIZATION of USD/ 200 is required at time of rental.

CONDITIONAL DEBIT CARD ACCEPTANCE
Non-Residents of New York and New Jersey when using a bank issued debit card an AUTHORIZATION equal to the estimated amount of the rental plus an additional AUTHORIZATION of USD/ 500 is required at time of rental.
New York and New Jersey residents when using a bank issued debit card an AUTHORIZATION equal to the estimated amount of the rental plus an additional AUTHORIZATION of USD/ 500 is required at time of rental.  Verification of Credit and Full Coverage Insurance is required.  Verification process is conducted during normal business hours.
Unused funds will be returned through the credit card processor after vehicle return.
NO REFUNDS ARE MADE FOR EARLY VEHICLE RETURNS OR CONTRACT CANCELLATIONS.

The following methods of payment are accepted for deposit - American Express Visa/Visa Debit Master Card/Master Card Debit Diners Club and Discover. Note - CASH DEPOSIT ARE NOT ACCEPTED.

PAYMENT AT RETURN
Accepted forms of payment at return are - American Express Visa/Visa Debit Master Card/Master Card Debit Diners Club Discover and Cash.
Any changes to the reservation or rental may result in a change of rate or additional fees. Makes/models are examples only and are not guaranteed.

Seat belts and child seats are mandatory by law.

Rates that are impacted by a website technical issue, database issue or other means will not be honored by the location if the rate display was inaccurate due to a technical issue or tampering issue to change the rate display.

Parking and Moving Citations - Renters are responsible for the payment of all vehicle parking and moving citations assessed against the vehicle during the rental period, including all such citations captured by camera and any related fines, fees, or penalties. If a citation-issuing authority notifies us, as the renter you we will be liable for any such citation and any related fines, fees, or penalties. Renter will also be charged USD/50 administrative fee for each such notification in addition to the fine, fee, or penalty.
Upon arrival and after collecting luggage please call 973 642 0008 for our on demand shuttle. Shuttle service is available from terminals A, B and C and provided by Park Plus.
Terminal A – From Baggage claim, take the escalator down to parking level A. Walk through the underground parking lot to street curb and stand at the airport parking and hotel shuttle sign 8 for shuttle pick-up. Shuttle service is provided by Park Plus.
Terminal B – From baggage claim follow the exit sign. Cross the street and wait between airport parking and hotel shuttles sign 4 and 5 for shuttle pickup. Shuttle service is provided by Park Plus.
Terminal C – From baggage claim follow the exit sign. Cross the street and wait at airport parking and hotel shuttle sign 1 for shuttle pickup. Shuttle service is provided by Park Plus.

TOLL ROAD REQUIREMENTS- CUSTOMER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING ALL TOLLS INCURRED WHILE USING THE VEHICLE. For your convenience vehicles can be equipped with an e-Toll device. If you use e-Toll you will be charged a $4.95 convenience fee for each day of the rental. This fee includes all days even those days in which e-Toll is not used up to a maximum of $24.95, plus incurred tolls. Tolls will be processed after the vehicle is returned and will be charged to the credit or debit card that was provided at time of rental. Those delayed charges will appear as AlphaPass/ HTA.
