Driving Credentials

The primary piece of identification required to rent a vehicle at Fox is a valid driver's license.

Fox accepts a foreign-issued driver’s license. An international driving permit is not acceptable without the driver’s license of the issuing country.

An international driving permit is accepted as long it is presented with a driver’s license of the issuing country.

Additional Drivers

Additional drivers must meet all qualifications as the primary drivers in regards to age, license, and major credit card. Additional drivers not available on cash rentals or debit card transactions.

Charges for additional drivers vary from city to city.  There is no charge:

(1) at California locations

(2) for the renter's spouse, same-sex spouse, or domestic partner, or for the companion driver of a renter with a disability who cannot operate the vehicle.

Yes, Fox requires that the driver’s license and major credit card matches the name of the renter or additional renters.

Drivers With Disabilities

Yes. We do assist with reserving vehicles with hand controls. Fox cannot provide hand controls on every make or model of vehicle, and cannot confirm a reservation for a particular make or model of vehicle on any rental. Please call (800) 225-4369 at least 72 hours in advance to make your reservation.

Yes, however, that person would have to meet all the qualifications and restrictions as the primary renter.

Reserving My Car

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a specific make or model of vehicle. However, we can guarantee you the rate you reserved. If we don’t have the car class available you reserved, we can upgrade you to the next car class.

Fox doesn’t require a credit card to make a reservation through the Fox reservation center at (800) 225-4369, Ext. 1 or on the Fox website at www.foxrentacar.com

Other vendors/partners using our name/logo might need a credit card to make a reservation; please call them ahead of time to inquire about their specific requirements.

If your reservation was confirmed directly with Fox Rent A Car, click here for a list of Fox Rent A Car phone numbers or go to the Fox Rent A Car website at www.foxrentacar.com. Fox does not charge a cancellation fee, but does request a cancellation notice as soon as travel plans have changed. The exception is our Pay Now option. Fox Pay Now reservations may be canceled but a cancellation fee applies. See Fox Pay Now Policy for details. 

Pay Later Reservations will be honored for a period of three hours after the confirmed pick up date and time. Pay Now reservations will be honored for a period of 12 hours after the confirmed pick up date and time.

You can cancel your Fox reservation via the FOX website at www.foxrentacar.com or via FOX customer service at the numbers and/or email form listed on the Fox website Contact Us page. 

Only reservations completed on the Fox website or directly with Fox Rent A Car via phone or reservations department can be cancelled through FOX. All 3rd party reservations must be cancelled at their original source of booking. Charges may apply depending on the type of reservation made or source of booking.

Renting My Vehicle

Fox has twenty (20) corporate airport locations: eight locations throughout California (Los Angeles, Burbank, San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland, San Diego, Orange County and Ontario), five locations throughout Florida (Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Fort Myers and Tampa), and additional airport locations in Las Vegas, Nevada, Phoenix, Arizona, Seattle, Washington, Denver, Colorado, Austin, Texas, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Salt Lake City, Utah. Yes, a one way rental charge will be applied to your rental agreement. One way rentals are available in between corporate locations in Washington, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and California only. One way rentals are also available between Florida and South Carolina. Drop charges range from $20.00 to $500.00. If you rent a vehicle and you agree to return it to a different office as stated on the Rental Agreement, you will be charged the one-way drop fee whether or not you bring the vehicle back to your original rental location or the different office as stated on the Rental Agreement.

Yes, at our corporate locations the card will be charged the rental total plus a security deposit in the amount of $150 at the time of pickup.

No, at the time of rental you would have to meet all qualifications. The name, address, driver’s license and major credit card must match.

We require all customers to rent the vehicle for a minimum of 24 consecutive hours. If you return the vehicle prior to 24-hours, you will be charged for the full day regardless of whether you return the vehicle early.

No. A long-term rental would constitute a maximum of 30 consecutive days.

No. However, a Fox shuttle will pick you up from and take you to the airport.

No, only to and from the airport.

No. Due to potential liability, you must have a valid driver’s license.

Yes, however vehicles must remain in the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming only. (You may drive a Fox vehicle into Mexico, only if you have purchased Mexico insurance).

Yes, the only country you may travel to is Mexico (close to the California and Arizona border), with the purchase of Mexico Insurance at Fox locations only: Los Angeles, San Diego, and Phoenix. See Fox policies for details.

No, towing is never permitted.

Parking tickets issued and use of toll roads during the rental period is the financial responsibility of the renter. Any/all charges for parking tickets or use of a toll road that go unpaid are issued to the registered owner of the vehicle. In turn, the renters' credit card is charged for all/any charges associated with unpaid parking tickets and/or toll usage plus a service charge for each unpaid item. In order to avoid such charges, the renter will need to: pay parking tickets directly to the issuing municipality upon receiving the ticket, only access toll roads that allow for payment when entering, avoid entering toll roads that require some type of PASS, as these toll roads do not allow for payment at time of use.

If you receive a violation, you will need to contact ATS who administers the tolls and violation program for Fox.

Violations incur a $40 administrative fee. Per the rental agreement, charges are billed by ATS (Fox) and will appear on your credit card statement.

Tolls where PlatePass is not covered or for rentals that originated at a location that doesn't offer PlatePass, Renter will be charged a $40 administrative fee per Toll Issuer plus the applicable tolls.

Cash deposits are returned in the form of a bank check to the renter's physical mailing address listed on the reservation 2 weeks after a rental is completed. We do not provide ACH wire transfers to return cash deposits.

Rental Rate

The rates are based on a 24 hour rental day starting with the hour you pick up the vehicle.

Fox’s rates do not include fuel.

Yes. Vehicles must be returned with the same amount of fuel as at the start of the rental to avoid refueling charges.

A rental day is each 24 hour time period commencing with the date/time indicated on the rental agreement (contract) at the time of rental. There is a 59 minute grace period for return. Hourly charges may apply after this grace period. After three hours, a full-day charge may apply.

Yes. For Fox and other rental car companies at many airport locations, airport concession and facility fees may be charged. Please check for fees that apply to your rental in the rate section during reservation process. Other products or additional equipment that you add at the counter will be extra. When you make your reservation online, you will see the breakdown of all taxes and fees including in your total quote. Pursuant to California law, starting January 1, 2007, all rentals will be charged an airport concession fee of up to 11.1% and a tourism assessment fee 2.5%. Actual charges will be calculated at the time of rental.

Renters and drivers under the age of 25 are subject to a surcharge:

UNDER AGE 25 SURCHARGE is USD/20.00 per day at all FOX corporate locations except TPA where it is USD/25.00 per day.

UNDER AGE 21 YOUNG RENTER SURCHARGE is USD/25.00 per day at all FOX corporate locations except TPA where it is USD/30.00.

Taxes, fees and other charges always vary by location. A breakdown of all surcharges will be showed to you in the online reservation process.

Surcharges are mandated for all car rentals by the local municipality, state/federal or airport authorities.

Website and Technical Issues for Booking

Rates that are impacted by a website technical issue, database issue or other means will not be honored by the location at the time of pick up if it is deemed that the rate display was inaccurate due to technical issues or any type of tampering issue to change the rate display.

Extra Equipment

There is an $8.99 per day fee per child seat.

We do not guarantee the availability of child safety seats. Fox inventory is based on a first-come, first-served basis.

The type of child seats and quantities available varies based on dates, reservations, location and other factors. We cannot guarantee a seat will be available at any given time due to returns, damage and loss. Customary seat types in our fleet :

• Infant seats : Installed rear-facing to recline at a 45-degree angle and may be without the detachable base.

• Convertible seat: Designed for children from newborn to 40 pounds or 40 inches tall. Seat can be installed either rear- or forward-facing.

• Booster seat: Booster seat raises the child so the car’s lap and shoulder belt fit properly and child’s knees bend naturally. Child should use booster seat if they weigh 40-80 pounds. Seat belts don’t fit properly until children weigh about 80 pounds and are 4’9”.

Yes, we do have GPS units available for rent at $7.99 per day at all locations (except SFO and LAX.) At the SFO and LAX locations, GPS units are available for rent at $9.99 per day. Please ask for details at the time of rental.

Yes, select vehicles may feature the OnStar service. Upon pick up, ask your rental agents to confirm if your vehicle has active OnStar service.

Fox Rewards Program

The Fox reward program is the most rewarding program in the car rental industry. You’ll earn 4 points for every dollar you spend.

Go to the www.foxrentacar.com website and click on the Fox Rewards program.

Every time you rent a car from Fox on the www.foxrentacar.com website, you will earn 4 points for every dollar you spend.

Make a reservation on www.foxrentacar.com at a Fox corporate location, complete your reservation and you will be awarded 4 points for each dollar of time and mileage completed. You can only earn or accumulate points at Fox corporate locations; you cannot accumulate or earn points for rentals completed at Fox affiliate locations.

There are two ways to redeem your points.

1. Redeem your points for SuperCertificates with Fox partner GiftCertificates.com™

2. Redeem your points for FoxBucks to pay for your rental with Fox Rent A Car. You can redeem your FoxBucks for rental credits through the Fox website for rentals at Fox corporate locations only. FoxBucks cannot be used for rentals at Fox affiliate locations. See locations page on the site to review the list of corporate locations. FoxBucks cannot be used in conjunction with coupons or discount codes on the Fox site.

3. If you have used Fox Rewards/FoxBucks rewards and have cancelled your reservation, your points will be returned to your account within 48 hours of the cancellation. If you do not see your points returned to your account, you will need to email your reservation cancellation info to rewards@foxrentacar.com and the rewards department will investigate and resolve your issue.

No, you cannot combine multiple discounts on one reservation or booking. However, if you use a coupon, discount code or promotional offer, you will still earn your rewards points for the time and mileage on your reservation.

Log in on the Fox website, then click on 'Fox Rewards' in the navigation of the website, and you'll be directed to 'My Account' page of your Fox Rewards account and you will be able to see your point balance and rental history information. You will be given the information and options on how you can exchange your rewards points for a SuperCertificate or redeem them for FoxBucks.

Paying For My Rental

Debit cards:

In order to use a debit card as a method of payment at time of rental, the following policy must be met:

1. Debit card must have a Visa, Master Card or Discover logo.

2. Debit card and driver’s license must be in same name.

3. Renters must present a return airline ticket/confirmation (actual or electronic ticket in renter’s name) OR if you do not present a return airline ticket/confirmation or your primary residence is within 150 miles of the rental location, Fox will check your credit through Equifax Credit Information Services. The inquiry is posted on the customer’s credit report and may have an effect on the customer’s credit evaluation. In the event that a customer’s credit inquiry fails to meet our debit card criteria, the customer will not be allowed to rent unless they provide a major credit card in their own name. Address as stated on renter’s valid driver’s license will be referenced to determine renter’s primary residence.

4. Debit card must have available funds of: (Funds taken as a deposit at time of rental) Return Airline Ticket - USD/200.00 or estimated amount of rental charges plus $100.00 whichever is greater. Credit Inquiry thru Equifax- (renter lives within 150 miles of rental location) USD/200.00 plus estimated amount of rental charges to be taken as a deposit at time of rental. Rental (on a credit inquiry) is permitted of vehicle classes Economy, Compact, Midsize, Standard, Full-size and Minivan only.

Upon return of the vehicle unused funds will be returned through the credit card processor. Due to your bank’s processing standards for debit card transactions, it can take up to 14 days for a credit to appear on your account. Fox will not be responsible for any returned check (s) or insufficient fund charges or bank fees related to this process.

NOTE: Fox does not allow rentals using a debit card to add additional drivers to the rental agreement.

Our debit card policy complies with all applicable U.S. federal and State Laws.

Major credit cards:

1. Valid driver’s license and credit card must be in the same name.

2. Credit card must have available funds of USD/200.00 or estimated amount of rental charges plus USD/$100.00 whichever is greater. If renter’s primary residence is within 150 mile radius of the rental location, the credit card must have available funds of USD/300.00 or estimated amount of rental charges plus USD/$100.00 whichever is greater. Address as stated on renter’s valid driver’s license will be referenced to determine renter’s primary residence.

3. At time of rental, credit card funds will be taken as a deposit against rental charges. All required available funds will be captured as a deposit at time of rental. Unused funds will be returned through the credit card processor after vehicle return. Due to bank processing, it can take between 2 to 5 days to appear on your account when using this form of payment.

NOTE:

• Address as stated on renter’s valid driver’s license will be referenced to determine renter’s primary residence. • All required available funds will be captured as a deposit at time of rental. Unused funds will be returned through the credit card processor after vehicle return. Due to bank processing it can take between 2 to 5 days to appear back on your account when using this form of payment • We do not accept the miniature key tag style credit cards.

Payment at car return: Debit cards, prepaid Visa/MasterCard, and cash always accepted as payment upon return.

Cash rentals:

(Cash is not accepted as a method of payment at time of rental at our Phoenix, AZ or Oakland, CA locations.)

In order to utilize CASH (as opposed to major credit card) as a qualifying method of payment at time of rental, the following seven conditions must be satisfied:

1. Have a reservation - Available on rental of vehicle class Economy thru Full Size only.

2. Present a current valid passport from a country other than the United States.

3. Present a valid international license along with a current valid license from same country as passport.

4. Present a return airline itinerary with confirmation of return travel date. Vehicle must be returned prior to return date and time of departure as stated on flight confirmation itinerary.

5. In U.S. currency, leave a cash deposit of USD/250.00 plus estimated amount of rental charges.

6. A U.S. contact phone number - an operating phone to be contacted in case of emergency while the vehicle is on rent.

7. Unused funds will be mailed back to customer within 2 weeks after car return.

Special/Premium Elite Vehicles: May be available and would require a major credit card with available funds of USD/250.00 plus the estimated charges taken as deposit at time of rental - no debit / check cards or cash rentals. Minimum age is 25 and vehicles must be returned to the renting location.

Prepaid cards:

Prepaid Visa/MasterCard are not accepted as a form of payment at time of rental.

Payment at Car Return:

Debit cards, prepaid Visa/MasterCard, and cash always accepted as payment upon return.

 

Yes, cash is always accepted as payment upon return.

At the time of rental, we require a major credit card, American Express, Diners Club, Discovery, JCB, MasterCard and Visa.

No, we do not accept the miniature key tag style credit cards. A standard size credit card is required to rent a vehicle with Fox.

Yes, you may change credit cards for payment at the time of return.

No. At the time of rental, the renter is required to present a valid driver’s license and major credit card with his/her name imprinted on it.

The estimated rate is displayed in U.S. Dollars. If you are renting a vehicle for pickup in another country, the actual rate you pay will be calculated by converting the U.S. Dollar amount into local currency using an exchange  rate established by the local rental company. Your credit or debit card company may convert the actual rate, in local currency, back into USD at a lower rate, and may apply additional conversion fees and surcharges. Because conversion rates may differ, the final total USD charge to your credit or debit card may be higher than the USD rate estimated on this website.

Purchasing Insurance Protections

Optional Insurance not required to rent a vehicle. Details available at rental counter.

Rental Liability Coverage (RLP): Primary insurance protecting you against claims made by third party for bodily injury and/or property damage sustained while operating the rental vehicle, up to the required financial responsibility limits of the state in which the vehicle is licensed. Does not cover all situations that may arise while operating a rental vehicle.

Supplemental Liability Coverage (SLP): This coverage is excess over underlying insurance specific within your signed rental agreement up to 1,000,000 dollars. Protects you against claims made by third party for bodily injury and/or property damage sustained as a result of an accident while operating the rental vehicle. Does not cover all situations that may arise while operating a rental vehicle.

Personal Property/Personal Accident Coverage (PPC): Personal property coverage protects against damage to personal effects owned by the renter, as well as immediate family members of the renter, who permanently reside in the renter's household and are traveling with the renter. Personal accident coverage provides accidental death and accidental medical expense benefit to the renter and their passenger (s). The death and medical expense benefit will both pay in addition to any other coverage that might be applicable to the renter or passenger (s).

Loss Damage Waiver (This is not insurance): This is a waiver for damage to the rental vehicle only. When accepted at the time of rental, Fox Rent a Car will waive the right to collect for damages to the rental vehicle when the vehicle involved in an accident.

Mexico Insurance: Fox offers the purchase of Mexico insurance (major credit card only) on vehicle rentals of economy thru full size only. Mexico insurance can be purchased at a Fox location in Los Angeles, San Diego or Phoenix at the time of rental or prior to entrance into Mexico. Coverage applies only in Mexico cities/states closest to the California and Arizona borders.

The purchasing of any Fox optional protections provides you with peace of mind and assurance that you are protected against any damage.

No, the purchase of Optional Insurance is not required to rent a vehicle.

You should call your own auto insurance company for more information.

No. In Mexico personal liability / 3rd party liability  insurance (“RLP”) is required by law. However, RLP is included in your rate. However, additional, optional insurance products, such as SLI, are available for purchase from the local Fox affiliate. See the Insurance Section in Local Policies for more details.

The required credit card authorization varies, as follows:

  • If you rent a vehicle, but do not purchase SLI and/or LDW, LDW2, or LDW3, then your credit card authorization will be USD/2500.
  • If you rent a vehicle, and only purchase SLI (but do not purchase LDW, LDW2, or LDW3), then your credit card authorization will be USD/800 for mini cars to intermediate cars or USD/1,300 for full size/premium cars, SUVs and Vans.
  • If you rent a vehicle, and purchase LDW or LDW2, then your credit card authorization will be  USD/100, whether or not you purchase SLI.
  • If you rent a vehicle and purchase LDW3, then your credit card authorization will be USD/200, whether or not you purchase SLI.

While I'm Renting

Yes, a one-way rental charge will be applied to your rental agreement. One-way rentals are only available in between corporate locations in Washington, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and California only. Drop charges range from $20.00 to $500.00 depending on the location.

You must extend your rental dates through the Fox website (rental extensions) or calling (855) 571-8414 to avoid penalties, fees, calls and letters asking to return the vehicle (Phoenix rentals must be in person). If the vehicle is kept longer than the return date or returned earlier than the return date stated on the rental agreement (contract), the rate will increase. The increased rate will be charged for each day after due return date, until the vehicle is returned. To extend a rental contract in Phoenix, customers need to do it in person at the location.

Early Return - The rate will increase by USD/20.00 per day not to exceed the estimated total at the time of rental. 
Later Return - The rate will increase by USD/25.00 per day each day the vehicle is kept beyond the return date at the time of rental. 

Call the rental location at the phone number provided on the rental agreement.

First, you should call the police to complete an accident report, then immediately contact Fox by calling (800) 225-4369.

Drive the car to a safe place and change the tire; then contact the rental location at the phone number provided on the rental agreement.

If a customer accidentally locks the keys in the trunk or in the vehicle, they are fully responsible for all charges and must contact a locksmith and then contact the rental location at the phone number provided in the rental agreement.

Fox does not provide spare keys. In the event you lost or misplaced keys, you need to contact Fox location where you rented the vehicle, or call (800) 225-4369, to receive advice on how to get a duplicate. Because the majority of Fox vehicles are new, making a duplicate is very sophisticated and requires dealership involvement. You will be responsible for dealer charges.

Yes. Fox has an emergency 24 hours toll-free number (877) 936-9349 to assist you if you are stranded roadside. This toll-free number is available for all rentals originating at Fox corporate locations.

After Renting

For a copy of your rental agreement, you can call directly the location where you rented the vehicle from or call (800) 225-4369 or contact customer service via email at customerservice@foxrentacar.com

If you left a personal item in your rental vehicle, we highly recommend that you report your lost items at your earliest convenience and we will do our best to find it. The best option to report your lost item is to contact the location directly at the toll-free number and leave a message in the 'lost and found' mailbox. You can find a list of location numbers here https://www.foxrentacar.com/en/locations.html. You can also email us at customerservice@foxrentacar.com with your contact info and description of the item you lost.

 

Our policy is to hold items for 30 days if they are found in the vehicle or Fox location. After 30 days, items may be donated or disposed of based on the location's available hold space or other factors. See customer service for assistance.

In case of any customer service issue, it is best to contact directly the Fox location where you rented the car. You also have the option to contact the corporate office at customerservice@foxrentacar.com.

Promotions and Discounts

Yes, the Fox Rewards program offers a point-based reward for bookings completed directly with Fox through the Fox website or by booking direct through our call center/reservations department. See 'Fox Rewards' section of site for full information.

You can redeem your Fox Rewards points for FoxBucks or you can use one of the exclusive coupons available to Fox customers on the 'Deals' page of the website or offered directly through our emails to our customers. You can enroll in email by entering your email info in our sign up module in the website footer, or by enrolling in the Fox Rewards program.

No, Fox coupons are only valid at US corporate locations where applicable. See coupon terms and conditions for the coupon for details on use and validity.

No, coupons are only good when used directly when booking on the Fox website or over the phone when booking direct with Fox reservations department.

Yes. Coupons and FoxBucks awards cannot be applied to your reservation or booking retroactively.

Pay Now

Sign onto www.foxrentacar.com and select the ‘Pay Now’ option in Step 2 ‘Select Your Vehicle/Add Ons’ of the reservations process.

No, other discounts cannot be applied to Fox ‘Pay Now’ rates.

Yes, you can cancel your ‘Pay Now’ reservation; however, there is a cancellation fee of $25. 

No. If you need to modify your ‘Pay Now’ reservation, you will need to cancel and re-book your Fox reservation. If you cancel, the cancellation fees apply to the original reservation.

Only Fox corporate-owned locations: LAX, SFO, SJC, OAK, BUR, SAN, OAK, SNA, PHX, SEA, SLC, DEN, MIA, FLL, MCO, TPA, RSW, LAS, MYR.

Availability of the FOX Pay Now rates or discount is limited, is subject to change without notice, may be subject to blackout dates and is void where prohibited by law.

Rates and Currency Conversion

Rates are always displayed in US Dollars on www.foxrentacar.com website for all locations.

Rates for foreign locations or locations that do not use US Dollars as the local currency can fluctuate at any time based on currency conversion rates at the time of pick up or drop off. No mileage restrictions curently exist for your Thumb•it rental vehicle.

Only valid credit and debit cards will be accepted for Thumb•it reservations. 

1. Valid driver's license and credit/debit card must be in the same name. 

2. Credit/debit card must have available funds of estimated amount of rental charges plus USD/150.00. 

3. At time of rental, credit/debit card funds will be taken as a deposit against rental charges. All required available funds will be captured as a deposit at time of rental. Unused funds will be returned through the credit card processor after vehicle return. Due to bank processing, it can take up to 14 business days to appear on your account when using this form of payment. 

NOTE - Address as stated on renters valid drivers license will be referenced to determine renters primary residence. 

Card is charged for the amount of the reservation period at the time of booking on the app. A deposit is charged at time of pick-up. Any additional fees or charges related to your rental will be charged at the end of your rental.

Yes, if the vehicle is available in the Thumb•it app, it is available to be rented.

No, Thumb•it rentals cannot be taken outside of the USA.

No, the Thumb•it app only allows for one rental per Thumb•it transaction at a time.

Smoking is NOT permitted in any Thumb•it rental vehicle. If you smoke in a Thumb•it rental, a cleaning fee will be assessed after your rental is completed.

Yes, but you may be assessed a cleaning fee if your rental is not returned in the same condition as it was at the time of pick-up.  

We offer optional insurance coverages on the Thumb•it app which allows you to make a decision based on your personal insurance need at the time of booking. See the Insurance Information page for full details.

Rental vehicles should be returned in the same condition as when picked up. If the vehicle is excessively damaged, dirty or otherwise impaired, a service fee may be assessed after inspection of the vehicle.

You should document the damage in the Thumb•it app during the pick-up process. See Thumb•it app for instructions. 

A ‘tethered’ spare key will be available in the vehicle ‘glovebox’ for your convenience. 

You are responsible for the payment of all vehicle parking and moving citations assessed against you or the vehicle during the rental period, including all such citations captured by camera and any related fines, fees, or penalties. If a citation issuing authority notifies us that we will be liable for any such citation and any related fines, fees, or penalties, you will be charged USD/40 administrative fee for each such notification in addition to the fine, fee, or penalty.

You can use the ‘Honk to find my vehicle’ or real-time map features in the Thumb•it app and also look for the Thumb•it window decals on the front/back and side of the vehicles in the window.  

Yes, you can select the type of vehicles and your rental preferences in the app.

You will need to show your driver's license and your rental confirmation screen in the Thumb•it app.

No, Fox Rewards points cannot be earned for Thumb•it rentals at this time.

No, FoxBucks cannot be used for any Thumb•it rentals or member discounts.

Yes, you can use Thumb•it specific promotional codes available through the app or sent to you in marketing messages from Thumb•it. Codes from Fox Rent A Car are not valid for Thumb•it rentals.  

Yes, currently you must rent a minimum of 28 concurrent calendar days in order to find a rental vehicle on the Thumb•it app. 

Vehicles must be returned with the same amount of fuel as at the start of the rental to avoid refueling charges.

The rates will be displayed in the app in US Dollars at the time of booking. Rates are not displayed in foreign currencies.

Rates that are impacted by an app technical issue, database issue or other means may not be honored by the location if the rate display was inaccurate due to a technical issue or tampering issue to change the rate display in the app.  

Minimum age for renters and drivers is 19. Minimum age for renters and drivers on government orders is 18.

Renters and drivers under the age of 25 are subject to a surcharge:
AGE 21-25 SURCHARGE is USD/20.00 per day 
UNDER AGE 21 YOUNG RENTER SURCHARGE is USD/25.00 per day

Additional drivers must meet all qualifications as the primary driver in regards to age and license requirements.  Primary driver assumes all liability and responsibility for the rental vehicle.

Charges for Additional Drivers: USD/10 per day per additional driver.

There is no charge:
(1) at California locations
(2) for the renters spouse, same-sex spouse, or domestic partner or for the companion driver of a renter with a disability who cannot operate the vehicle.

Yes, a DMV check is done at the time you set up your Thumb•it account to complete your first rental. Additional DMV checks may be done after you become a member or update your license information.

We currently do not offer these accessories on Thumb•it vehicle rental units.

No, we only offer automatic vehicles for rent via Thumb•it.

If your license is from Hawaii, Alaska or a country outside the the United States, we cannot auto-check validity through your state or country DMV or drivers license agency. You will have a waiting period to have your Thumb•it rental approved while the customer service department verifies your license validity. Generally this is 24 hours, but it could take longer depending on the time it takes to validate your drivers license eligibility.

If you cancel a reservation within 6 hours of booking, you won’t be charged a fee. If you cancel more than 6 hours after booking and more than 24 hours ahead of the scheduled reservation, you’ll be charged $25. If you cancel a reservation within 24 hours of the booking, you’ll be charged the cost of the reservation. The $5 reservation booking fee is refundable within 6 hours.

You can reschedule until 6 hours before a reservation and you can only reschedule each reservation once. The first time you reschedule, we waive the fee. Any additional rescheduling will cost $25 per instance.

If your tardiness doesn’t affect a reservation following yours, you won’t be charged a late fee. You’ll just be charged the regular hourly rate for as many hours you use the vehicle beyond your reservation’s 15 minute grace period for returns. If you’ll be more than 15 minutes late, we recommend you extend your reservation to ensure no one makes a reservation while you still have the vehicle. That wouldn’t be good.

If you’re running late and you’ll be affecting another member’s reservation, please contact us immediately. You’ll be charged $25 for the inconvenience in addition to the vehicle's stated hourly rate rate (plus $6/hour) for the number of hours you keep the vehicle beyond your reservation.
