Fox Rent A Car - Rental Policies - Christchurch Airport

All drivers must be listed on the rental agreement.
Additional drivers must meet all qualifications as the primary driver in regards to age, passport, and license requirements.
Cost: NZD 5.18/per day, plus taxes and fees. Additional driver charge is capped at 14 days.

Minimum age 21.
Drivers must hold a full license to rent a vehicle from Europcar. Probationary or restricted licenses are not acceptable.
Conditions apply for renters under the age of 25.
Age 21 to 24 a Young Driver Surcharge applies. Cost NZD $20.70 /per day, plus taxes and fees.

Cancellation
If you made a reservation directly with Fox Rent a Car at www.foxrentacar.com or our call center, please use the same source to cancel your reservation. Fox does not charge a cancellation fee but does request such cancellation notice as soon as travel plans have changed. If you made a reservation through another provider (Expedia, Priceline etc.) please use the same source to cancel your reservation. Some providers may charge for the cancellation of a reservation if not canceled within a specific time frame. In order to alleviate such charges (cancellation fee or penalty) check with the provider and cancel the reservation directly with the provider.

CURRENCY CONVERSION

The estimated total is displayed in U.S. Dollars. The actual rate you pay will be calculated by converting the U.S. Dollar (USD) amount into the local currency using a published exchange rate established by the local rental company. When converted, the amount will best represent the original quote. However, due to currency fluctuation variances may be unavoidable. Your credit or debit card company may convert the amount back into USD at a lower rate, and may apply additional conversion fees and surcharges. Because conversion rates may differ, the final total USD charge to your credit or debit card may be higher than the USD total rate estimated on this website.

Drivers must hold a full license to rent a vehicle from Europcar. Probationary or restricted licenses are not acceptable. Photocopies are not acceptable. International arrivals are recommended to have arranged an International Drivers Permit before travel and provide it with their current country license. Europcar will accept a license from the originating country providing it is in English and clearly demonstrates the expiry date, drivers address, date of birth, and permit conditions. Drivers must also present their Passport on collection.

MULTIPLE or DUPLICATE RESERVATIONS - If you require multiple vehicles for the same or overlapping time periods, please make sure to use a different name for each reservation otherwise the duplicate name reservation will automatically be canceled. FOX will not be responsible for any canceled reservations.

Hand controls are NOT available at this location.

Vehicles must be returned with the same amount of fuel as at the start of the rental to avoid refueling charges.

INTERISLAND RENTALS

When traveling with Europcar, renters will not be permitted to take their vehicles between islands on the Interislander Ferry. In order to make a multi-island reservation, please place one booking (i.e. Auckland to Christchurch) and advise Europcar of the intent to cross over the day and time. We will then facilitate the second leg of the journey and arrange for a vehicle to be waiting on arrival once the ferry crossing has completed and you arrive as a foot passenger. When returning the vehicle to the Picton or Wellington terminal, it must have a full tank of petrol.

NOTE: Europcar vehicles are not permitted to travel on the ferry between the north and south islands in New Zealand.

There are two ferry companies that operate between the north and south islands - the Interisland ferry and Bluebridge ferry. The Interisland ferry departs (and arrives) from the main terminals on both the north and south islands. The Picton and Wellington Europcar offices are located in both ferry terminals. Traveling on the Bluebridge ferry, the Picton terminal is not located in the town center. Customers will need to make their own way to the Europcar office located at the Interislander Ferry Terminal to collect their vehicle. Bluebridge offers a shuttle service at the clients own expense which they have to arrange themselves or alternatively, customers will need to organize a taxi.

NOTE: When making inter-island bookings on behalf of other parties, it would be greatly appreciated if you could please inform them of the procedure before they collect their first vehicle. Making this information available to customers via confirmation vouchers, emails, brochures, and websites would also be of assistance.

Honoring Reservations
Reservations will be honored for a minimum of 1 hour after the confirmed pick up date and time (or longer if the flight number is advised so Europcar is aware of any unforeseen flight delays).
If the booking is paid online, the branch will wait until closing time.
If the booking is to pay at pickup time the branch will wait a maximum of one hour (unless you call)
If a flight number is provided, the branch will wait until closing time. If they close, they will give you the car the next day.
For pay upon arrival reservations, you must contact the location directly to inform them of the delay and prior to the scheduled arrival time for the car to be held.
Fox Call Center is unable to assist in these matters. Every effort will be made to accommodate based on fleet availability. The location will confirm at time of contact.

TPI - Third-party liability insurance is included in the rate and protects against claims for injury/damage you cause to third persons/their property. It does not cover injury to you or damage to the rented vehicle.

LDW - Loss Damage Waiver reduces your financial liability for damage to the vehicle its parts and accessories except for theft attempted theft or vandalism provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. Exclusions apply. Costs vary based on vehicle type rented. Deductible. NZD 200. Cost NZD 28.75-50.60/per day plus fees and taxes.

RSA - Basic Emergency Roadside Assistance covering mechanical defects of the vehicle only is included in the rate..

RSA-Roadside Assistance Cover is available to purchase at time of rental. In addition to the free 24-hour roadside assistance, benefits include refueling the vehicle when the customer has run out of fuel with up to 6 liters of fuel, unlocking the vehicle when the keys or remote control has been locked in the vehicle, changing a wheel as the result of a flat tire, starting the vehicle if the battery is flat because the headlights or interior lights etc. have been operating when the engine was not running.
Cost NZD 68.05/ per day, plus taxes and fees.

Snow Cover within New Zealand, any customer who buys snow cover (NZD8.05 per day) can take any Europcar vehicle to a ski field and can use the unsealed access road if necessary to get to that ski field. No other driving on unsealed road(s) is permissible in NZ, as per our terms and conditions. Snow chains must always be carried when traveling to the ski fields. Europcar has Snow Products available. Customers can hire both Ski Racks and Snow Chains at participating locations during winter (May to October). Europcar New Zealand can provide a pre-booked ski-equipped car with Ski racks and chains. Some vehicles cannot be racked or chained.

Free kilometers allowance is returned in the rate and confirmation details.

One-way rentals are available between Fox locations in New Zealand. When available, the one-way fee will be reflected in the total price.

A charge equal to the estimated amount of the rental plus an additional charge of NZD /200-500 (amount depends on class rented and coverage accepted) is required at time of rental.

After collecting your luggage, for domestic arrivals proceed to the ground-floor of the multi-level car park building, directly opposite the domestic terminal forecourt. For international arrival proceed to the ground floor, the car rental area is next to arrivals. If you are unable to locate a Europcar representative please call 3 3579 202 to announce your arrival. When using an international cellular service include country code 64.

New Zealand has a network of toll roads throughout the country. The cost of tolls varies. Payment booths will be set-up along the highway and you will pay as you travel. Drivers are responsible for all toll charges throughout New Zealand.
