If you made a reservation directly with Fox Rent a Car at www.foxrentacar.com or our call center, please use the same source to cancel your reservation. Fox does not charge a cancellation fee but does request such cancellation notice as soon as travel plans have changed.
If you made a reservation through another provider (Expedia, Priceline etc.) please use the same source to cancel your reservation. Some providers may charge for the cancellation of a reservation if not canceled within a specific time frame. In order to alleviate such charges (cancellation fee or penalty) check with the provider and cancel the reservation directly with the provider.

LDW - Loss and Damage Waiver is the combination of CDW and THW. LDW covers all partial or total damage to the vehicle and total theft. Therefore, partial theft, damages due to meteorological phenomena, damages caused by vandalism, riots, strike, coup or any other political or social movement are not covered by this insurance. In case of damage or theft, the customer is only responsible for paying the deductible/excess of ca 20 percent of the total value of the vehicle. LDW is available at USD30 per day plus applicable taxes and fees for all types of vehicles and is typically purchased by customers who are not covered for vehicle damage or loss by their Credit Card/Third Party Insurance. Customers with Credit Card/Third Party LDW must provide a document from their insurance company with a verifiable phone number and/or email address for confirmation. The document must expressively state that the credit card insurance includes LDW (Loss and Damage Waiver). All credit card/Third Party insurance companies which this type of insurance must be regulated by the Comision Nacional de Seguros y Finanzas which is the Mexican government institution regulating all insurance companies in Mexico. If a customer has the appropriate approval and coverage from their credit card institution, they will have to sign a statement of personal responsibility for the total value of the car and acknowledgment of potentially additional charges linked to damage/loss of the vehicle. For customers who do not have the required documentation, LDW will become mandatory.

SPLDW - Super Loss Damage Waiver (zero excess) relieves the customer of all financial responsibility (no excess due), except for specific cases in which there is presumed negligence. SPLDW costs USD30 per day plus applicable taxes and fees and is only available to customers who already have TPL and LDW included in their rate or have added these coverages at the counter. The above-mentioned coverage will only apply if the customer strictly follows the clauses in the rental contract, meaning that that any breach of contract will invalidate the protection and the customer will then assume full responsibility for all damages incurred. Glass, wheels, tires and rims, and stolen accessories are not covered.

Currency - The estimated total is displayed in U.S. Dollars. The actual rate you pay will be calculated by converting the U.S. Dollar (USD) amount into the local currency using a published exchange rate established by the local rental company. When converted, the amount will best represent the original quote. However, due to currency fluctuation variances may be unavoidable. Your credit or debit card company may convert the amount back into USD at a lower rate, and may apply additional conversion fees and surcharges. Because conversion rates may differ, the final total USD charge to your credit or debit card may be higher than the USD total rate estimated on this website.

A valid driving license is a mandatory requirement for the rental and the license must have been held for at least one year. The validity period of the license must cover a minimum of 10 days after the end of the rental. If the license is not written in Roman or Latin Letters, an International Driving License will be required. Electronic Driving Licenses are not allowed under the Mexican traffic laws.

Duplicate Reservations - MULTIPLE or DUPLICATE RESERVATIONS - If you require multiple vehicles for the same or overlapping time periods please make sure to use a different name for each reservation otherwise the duplicate name reservation will automatically be canceled. FOX will not be responsible for any canceled reservations.

You will be given the vehicle with the fuel tank full or partially full. You must return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel with which it was delivered.

The rates vary according to the route that the client makes, minimum 3 days of rent. TRAVEL TO UNITED STATES From Monterrey is allowed: customer have to purchase border insurance in U.S.A. Travel to Central America is not allowed. Except from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Merida and Chetumal. To travel to Belize and Guartemala a letter or email should be sent to the station 48 hours before his pickup date. Traveling to Guatemala is only valid when customer is crossing the border through the city of Tapachula.

Reservations will be honored for a period of 3 hours after the confirmed pick up date and time.
IN CASE OF DELAYED ARRIVALS you must contact the location directly to inform of the delay and prior to the scheduled arrival time in order for the car to be held.

TPL/PLI – Third Party Liability coverage is a mandatory insurance that the Government traffic regulations require for all drivers in Mexico. TPL Insurance covers up to 250,000 MXP and is included in certain rates. This coverage must be paid in addition to the amount of the daily rent of the vehicle, unless the rate expressly mentions that it is included.

Liability Insurance Products purchased on third party travel websites are not accepted in Mexico.

Third Party Liability is a car insurance that covers against death and or bodily injury to any third party, in an accident caused by or arising out of the use of the insured vehicle (people inside the car are not covered by TPL), this coverage cost 16.99 USD per day plus applicable taxes.

Europcar Mexico strongly recommends that all foreign travelers purchase the optional SLI coverage (Supplemental Liability Insurance) which provides similar or higher coverage amounts for claims and indemnities to the ones you find in your country of residence. SLI coverage provides up to 1,000,000 USD per event (people inside the car are not covered by TPL and are only covered if optional Auto Personal Accident insurance has been included in the agreed policy package).

WWI. - Glass and Tire protection is available at 26.91 USD per day. A 20 percent excess (deductible) will be charge per event.

Road Assistance (RSA). The Roadside Assistance service is optional, and it might be declined at the time of car check-out, it costs 6.73 USD per day for all types of vehicles, and it includes the following services.

Roadside Assistance

Coverage that provides travel assistance service at no cost to the following events: battery charge, opening of the vehicle if the keys are left inside, flat tire replacement, and refueling. Charges apply in the following ways - gasoline provided, key placement and flat tire repair.

If the driver wishes to decline this service, they shall notify at the time of signing the contract and will be responsible for all additional charges listed above.

Medical Expenses for Occupants covers injuries expenses for passengers (according to the number of passengers allowed by the manufacturer) and the driver of the vehicle. This insurance covers up to 120,000.00. PAI - 13.46 USD per day.

Unlimited Kilometer

One-way rentals are permitted between all Europcar Mexico Branches. When allowed the one-way fee will be returned in the total rate. International one-ways are not allowed.

When you arrive at the rental location, you will be asked to leave a deposit for your rental. The deposit amount will be blocked on your credit card at pick-up time. The deposit will be used to settle any extra and additional charges you incur whilst renting the vehicle from us (including fuel missing at return, extra-day, one-way charge, damage etc.) The amount of the deposit varies by vehicle category and if LDW is included or excluded in the prebooked rental rate. The deposit amount for rates including LDW is USD1,800 to USD5,000 depending on the vehicle category. The deposit for rates excluding LDW is USD5,000 to USD10,00 depending on the vehicle category. It is possible to reduce the deposit amount by purchasing additional protection packages. ACCEPTED CREDIT CARDS - The following methods of payment are accepted for deposit. American Express Visa/Visa credit card Master Card/Master credit card and Discover.

Rates that are impacted by a website technical issue, database issue or other means will not be honored by the location if the rate display was inaccurate due to a technical issue or tampering issue to change the rate display.
Grace period - 59 minutes, Late returns will be charged at an extra days rate
Circulation – the vehicle must be driven on paved or asphalt roads; it is strictly forbidden to drive on unpaved roads.
Debit cards are only accepted if the customer reduces the risk by purchasing additional coverage packages like SPLDW (Super Loss Damage Waiver), WWI (Windows, Windscreen, Tires), RSA (Emergency Roadside Assistance) etc

Mexico has an extensive network of toll roads throughout the country. The cost of tolls varies and will depend on the distance traveled. Payment booths will be set-up along the highway and you will pay as you travel. The fee paid at the toll booth will cover the cost until you reach the next toll both or exit the highway. Tolls are paid in cash. Currency Mexican Pesos.
