Cancellation

If you made a reservation directly with Fox Rent a Car at www.foxrentacar.com or our call center, please use the same source to cancel your reservation. Fox does not charge a cancellation fee but does request such cancellation notice as soon as travel plans have changed. If you made a reservation through another provider (Expedia, Priceline etc.) please use the same source to cancel your reservation. Some providers may charge for the cancellation of a reservation if not canceled within a specific time frame. In order to alleviate such charges (cancellation fee or penalty) check with the provider and cancel the reservation directly with the provider.

CURRENCY CONVERSION

The estimated total is displayed in U.S. Dollars. The actual rate you pay will be calculated by converting the U.S. Dollar (USD) amount into the local currency using a published exchange rate established by the local rental company. When converted, the amount will best represent the original quote. However, due to currency fluctuation variances may be unavoidable. Your credit or debit card company may convert the amount back into USD at a lower rate, and may apply additional conversion fees and surcharges. Because conversion rates may differ, the final total USD charge to your credit or debit card may be higher than the USD total rate estimated on this website.

All drivers stated on the contract, primary, additional and young drivers, must present a current driving license, issued by their country of residence and held for a minimum period, according to Guatemalan legislation, of 1 month.
It will be requested at every rental. International driving license holders must present a valid driving license from the renters/driver's country of origin in English, Spanish or Portuguese.

All other drivers license holders will be required to present an international drivers license.

MULTIPLE or DUPLICATE RESERVATIONS - If you require multiple vehicles for the same or overlapping time periods, please make sure to use a different name for each reservation otherwise the duplicate name reservation will automatically be canceled. FOX will not be responsible for any canceled reservations.

Vehicles must be returned with the same amount of fuel as at the start of rental to avoid refueling charges.

Cross-border travel is restricted to El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Belize and the following regions of Mexico: Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche and Quintana Roo.

When approved, at the time of rental the renter will receive written authorization and will be required to purchase an insurance package.

Violations of the restriction will void any insurance purchased and will subject the renter to additional charges.

Unauthorized cross-border penalty fee. USD/1,500.

Reservations will be honored for a minimum of 2 hours after the confirmed pickup date and time.
If the booking is paid online, the branch will wait until closing time.
If the booking is to pay at pickup time the branch will wait maximum one hour (unless you call)
If a flight number is provided, the branch will wait until closing time. If they close, they will give you the car next day.
For pay upon arrival reservations, you must contact the location directly to inform them of the delay and prior to the scheduled arrival time for the car to be held.

When renting a car in Guatemala, basic insurance is required.

We are mandated by the laws of all of the countries in which we operate our vehicle rental services to insure our Vehicles against liability for the claims or actions of Third Parties. We have purchased the best Third Party Liability insurance from the foremost insurers in the business. However, it is not automatically included as part of our vehicle rental services. You will therefore acquire an insurance plan to be covered up to the level legally required by the country in which you are renting the Vehicle for the consequences others may suffer as a direct result of your actions whilst you are driving the Vehicle.

CDW Collision Damage Waiver reduces your financial liability for damage to the vehicle its parts and accessories except for theft attempted theft or vandalism provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. Exclusions apply. Cost and deductibles vary based on vehicle type rented. Deductible. 3000.

LDW Loss Damage Waiver reduces your financial liability for damage to the vehicle, its parts, and accessories except for theft attempted theft, or vandalism provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. Exclusions apply. Cost and deductibles vary based on vehicle type rented. Deductible 2500.
Cost USD 40/per day.

Medium Insurance reduces your financial liability for damage to the vehicle, its parts, and accessories and 50% (stipulated based on the vehicle) for theft attempted or vandalism provided the unit is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. Exclusions apply. Cost and deductibles vary based on vehicle type rented. Deductible 1500.
Cost USD 70/per day.

Premium Insurance only applies for those rents from 3 days onwards, and it reduces to 0 your financial liability for damage to the vehicle, its parts, and accessories, and theft attempted or vandalism, provided the unit is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. It covers tire and hub cap change, scratches, minor bumps, collision, windshield, free additional driver, and other services. If the reservation is prepaid, it offers Express Service, 24/7 Pick-Up, and Return of the vehicle as well. Exclusions apply. Deductible 0.
Cost USD 125/per day.

THW - Theft Waiver reduces your financial liability for loss of or damage to the rental vehicle due to theft attempted theft or vandalism including its parts and accessories provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. Exclusions apply. Cost and deductibles vary based on vehicle type rented. Theft Protection Coverage reduces your liability against theft to USD 3000.
Cost USD 20.00/ per day.

PAI Personal Accident Insurance when purchased covers medical expenses in case of an accident in the rental vehicle, up to USD 6,250.00, and covers injuries expenses to passengers according to the number of passengers allowed by the manufacturer and the driver of the vehicle. Exclusions apply.
Cost USD 30/per day

One-way rentals are not offered.

PAYMENT
DEPOSITS - A charge equal to the estimated amount of the rental plus an additional charge of USD/625-1250 (amount depends on class rented and coverage accepted) is required at the time of rental.

Rates that are impacted by a website technical issue, database issue or other means will not be honored by the location if the rate display was inaccurate due to a technical issue or tampering issue to change the rate display.

After completing your arrival process, proceed to the airport car rental counters where you will find the Europcar booth. If you are unable to locate the Europcar representative please call 2499 3900 to announce your arrival. When using an international cellular service include country code 502.

Guatemala has a network of toll roads. The cost of tolls varies. Payment booths will be set up along the highway and you will pay as you travel. Currency USD and GTQ.
