New Tyre Regulation (Effective 1 July 2025, Denmark)
As of 1 July 2025, all drivers are legally required to ensure that their tyres are appropriate for prevailing weather conditions. Operating a vehicle with clearly unsuitable tyres in winter conditions such as summer tyres on icy, snowy, or slushy roads may result in a fine of DKK 1,000 per tyre (up to DKK 4,000 for a standard passenger vehicle).
This regulation is similar to the existing rules in Germany. Drivers are legally obligated to ensure that their tyres are suitable for winter conditions; failure to comply may incur substantial fines. It is the responsibility of the driver to verify that the vehicle is equipped with appropriate tyres, just as it is the drivers responsibility to comply with all other traffic regulations.
We provide vehicles equipped with both summer and winter tyres in Denmark. Summer tyres are the default option, and it is the customers responsibility to determine which type of tyres is appropriate for their needs. While customers may prefer to avoid the additional cost of winter tyres in favorable weather, conditions can change rapidly. We therefore strongly recommend monitoring local weather forecasts and considering the use of winter tyres when temperatures approach or fall below 0 C. Winter tyres must be requested in advance to ensure that the appropriate vehicle is available at the time of collection.

In the event that the Renter has not opted for winter tires, and our staff deems that driving without winter tires would be unsafe given the prevailing weather conditions and the state of the roads, Europcar reserves the right to not supply you with a Vehicle and, accordingly, cancel the reservation or rental agreement.
Diesel-powered vehicles are subject to an AdBlue consumption charge, calculated on a per-kilometer basis. (In the case of long-term rentals, AdBlue isincluded in the stipulated pricing.
