Fox Rent A Car - Rental Policies - Calama Airport


With the consent of the renter, one additional drivers is permitted.
The additional driver must meet all qualifications as the primary driver in regards to age, passport and license requirements.

Cancellation
If you made a reservation directly with Fox Rent a Car at www.foxrentacar.com or our call center, please use the same source to cancel your reservation. Fox does not charge a cancellation fee but does request such cancellation notice as soon as travel plans have changed. If you made a reservation through another provider (Expedia, Priceline etc.) please use the same source to cancel your reservation. Some providers may charge for the cancellation of a reservation if not canceled within a specific time frame. In order to alleviate such charges (cancellation fee or penalty) check with the provider and cancel the reservation directly with the provider.
CURRENCY CONVERSION
The estimated total is displayed in U.S. Dollars. The actual rate you pay will be calculated by converting the U.S. Dollar (USD) amount into the local currency using a published exchange rate established by the local rental company. When converted, the amount will best represent the original quote. However, due to currency fluctuation variances may be unavoidable. Your credit or debit card company may convert the amount back into USD, and may apply additional conversion fees and surcharges. Because conversion rates may differ, the final total USD charge to your credit card may be higher than the USD total rate estimated on this website.
A valid drivers license is required. License must be valid up to 10 days after the end of rental.
If license is not written in Roman or Latin Letters, an International Driving License will be required.

Electronic Drivers Licence are not allowed by Chilean laws.
MULTIPLE or DUPLICATE RESERVATIONS - If you require multiple vehicles for the same or overlapping time periods, please make sure to use a different name for each reservation otherwise the duplicate name reservation will automatically be canceled. FOX will not be responsible for any canceled reservations.
Infant Seat (CSI ): Cost USD 8 per day tax included with a maximum charge of 10 days. Upon request. Child Seat (CSB ): Cost USD 8 per day tax included with a maximum charge of 10 days. Upon request.
GAS
All cars are supplied with a full tank of fuel at time of pick-up. At the end of the rental the customer is required to return the car with a full tank of fuel, otherwise refueling charges for missing fuel will apply. Refueling charge aprox USD 2.28 per liter tax included. Same charge for Petrol or Diesel.

Travel is restricted to Chile and the country of Argentina.

A permit is required and a minimum rental period of 7 days. Only SUVs and Pickup trucks are allowed to travel to Argentina.

SEVEN DAYS ADVANCE NOTICE IS REQUIRED: Renters must request by email to reservations@europcar.cl. Additional documents will be required and communicated upon receipt of the request.

CHANGES/CANCELATIONS: must be received 48 hours prior to scheduled arrival. Otherwise, the full value of the permit will be charged. Europcar Chile will not be responsible if the renter is unable to cross the border. Europcar Premium insurance will be mandatory. Credit card insurance or any other insurance issued by a third party are not accepted to cross border. Additional deposit of USD 2.000 will be requested. Cost for Cross Border Permit - 7-15 days USD 116, 16-30 Days USD 203, and 31-60 days USD 304. Rates include tax.
Reservations will be honored for a minimum of 1 hour after the confirmed pickup date and time.
If the booking is paid online, the branch will wait until closing time.
If the booking is to pay at pickup time the branch will wait maximum one hour (unless you call)
If a flight number is provided, the branch will wait until closing time. If they close, they will give you the car next day.
For pay upon arrival reservations, you must contact the location directly to inform them of the delay and prior to the scheduled arrival time for the car to be held.
Fox Call Center is unable to assist in these matters. See SHUTTLE policy for a location contact number. Every effort will be made to accommodate based on fleet availability. Location will confirm at time of contact.
Basic Liability Insurance is not included.

SLI: Supplement Liability Insurance when accepted extends third-party liability from USD 20,000 to 267,000 for third-party damages and liability. Exclusions apply. Cost USD 10/per day, tax included.

CDW/LDW DAMAGE WAIVER IS OPTIONAL PROVIDING THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS ARE MET. A deposit of USD/2,000 is required at the time of rental and a declaration statement must be signed by this document the renter assumes any charge for damages to the rental vehicle and third parties. If the amount requested cannot be covered by Credit Card, the purchase of CDW/LDW will be mandatory. CDW/LDW is mandatory for crossing border travel.

CDW/LDW reduces your financial liability for damage to the vehicle, its parts, and accessories, except for damages to tires, windshield, interior damage, theft, attempted theft, or vandalism, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. CDW/LDW excess is between USD 500 and 5,000. The amount depends on the car group rented. In Chile, this coverage includes a limited third-party liability of up to USD 20,000. Exclusions apply. Cost USD 12 to 21/per day, tax included. The amount depends on the car group rented.

The excess amount will be charged to the customer regardless of fault.
OTHER EXCESS: Roll Over or Turn Over, Theft excess and Total Loss, excess starting from USD 1,190 including tax. This excess will be charged even if the car is covered by CDW/LDW.

SPCDW: Super Collision Damage Waiver when accepted, reduces excess to zero for the rental vehicle. Third-party responsibility still will have an excess. SPCDW requires the acceptance of CDW. Exclusions apply. Cost USD/10 per day, tax included.

Premium Package when accepted, reduces excess to USD zero. In case of collision, theft, total loss, roll over, tires, glass, third party coverage up to USD 267,000. Coverage includes Personal accident protection up to USD 216,000, and accessories loss or theft such as radio, antenna, and spare wheel. Exclusions Apply. Cost USD 32/per day tax included.

Medium Package when accepted, reduces excess to one-half of the normal excess amount of LDW coverage in the event of damage to the vehicle as a result of a collision, theft, and total loss of car and roll over. Coverage includes third-party liability up to USD 35,700 and zero excess in the event of damage to the windshield, headlights, or tires. Personal accident protection covers up to USD 40,000 in case of injury to the driver and passengers, or damage to personal effects Exclusions Apply. Cost USD18 /per day, tax included.

SPTHW Super Theft and Total Loss Waiver when accepted, reduces the excess from USD 1, 000 to zero in case of car theft or total Loss. Exclusions Apply. Cost USD 10/ per day, tax included.

PAI:Personal Accident Insurance when accepted provides coverage against personal injury for all occupants of the vehicle. In case of death up to USD 17,800, Permanent Incapacity up to USD 17,800, and medical expense reimbursement up to USD 2,800. Cost USD 2/per day.

SVALF: Vehicle Roll-Over Coverage when accepted eliminates the excess from USD 1,190 to zero in case of rollover/turnover. Exclusions Apply. Cost USD 10/per day, tax included.

WWI: Glass and Tire Coverage covers only damage to windshield, mirrors, glass, rim, and tires in case of normal use. Exclusions Apply. Cost USD 7/ per day, tax included.

NOTES: Exclusions apply to all coverages. Please inquire at the time of rental on product exclusions. Damage to the rental vehicle, accidents, loss, and theft must be reported immediately. Reporting method is a statement report which is MANDATORY through http://siniestros.europcar.cl/. FAILURE to report will result in the renter being held financially responsible for all claims including third parties.
Domestic One Ways are allowed between all stations.
Only SUV and Pickup trucks are allowed to have One Ways to the following cities - Coyhaique, Balmaceda, Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales. Only cars 4x4 are allowed to drive in Carretera Austral.

International One Ways are not allowed.

Niote - A penalty of USD 10, 000 will be charged plus all cost associated to bring back the car to Chile for any reason.
A charge equal to the estimated amount of the rental plus an additional charge of USD 500 is required at time of rental. When traveling to Argentina or declining CDW/LDW the additional authorization is required of USD 2,000

Credit cards that have both credit/debit on the face of the card could be rejected. The name on credit card must be the same as the reservation and renting driver.
Any changes to the reservation or rental may result in a change of rate or additional fees.
Makes/models are examples only and are not guaranteed.
Rates that are impacted by a website technical issue, database issue or other means will not be honored by the location if the rate display was inaccurate due to a technical issue or tampering issue to change the rate display.
Grace Period / Extra Days - 60 minutes. Late return will correspond to a full day charge at the local rate available. Extra days will be charge at the local rate available at the station.
Vehicle must be returned, normal wear & tear expected, in the same condition as when rented. Damages caused by any external installed accessories will be fully charged. If special cleaning/sanitized is required a separate charge will apply. All Europcar Chile Fleet are non-smoking cars.

Country Restriction - In case by law or any Government Institution states that some plate numbers are unable to circulate some days of the week, Europcar Chile will not be responsible of unused days refund. Replacements of car depend at availability.

Road Assistance/ Vehicle Recovery - Road assistance only includes mechanical issues in route, such as battery charging with jumper, tyre change ( spare), closed vehicles. If the vehicle cannot continue its route, passengers will be delivered to a safe place or to another Europcar Station. This service is limited by geographical distance or if the car is outside Chilean territory. In case of accident the passenger will be fully responsible for any transportation or tow truck cost of the car to the Europcar Station. If the vehicle needs to be towed by 4x4 cranes, without the possibility of being towed by a crane due to the place and where it is stranded, this cost is not included in coverage and there may be cost that will be charged to the renter considered as a Rescue or Recovery. Any breakdown caused by misuse is not included in the roadside assistance or rescue/recovery service neither Chile or Argentina. Replacement car subject to availability and must be requested to the station in working hours, replacement cars will not be delivered to Argentina.

Chile Electronic Tolls/ Mandatory

A mandatory surcharge will be applied in Santiago, Vina del Mar,Rancagua and Concepcion stations and all other cities that have electronic toll gates. This surcharge is per day of rental and pay on arrival.
Santiago USD 9.52/per day, Vina del Mar and Rancagua USD 4/per day, Concepcion USD 2.72/per day. Rates include tax.
