US Road Trip Map

A few years ago, Randal S. Olson, a University of Michigan researcher worked out the ultimate US road trip map taking in all the most important sites and cities. The entire route is 13,699 miles and would take about nine days or 224 hours of driving to complete. Making the Trip Affordable

A fun and affordable option would be to get together with a group of friends and rent a 7- or 9- seater car and take turns driving. Great for comfort and you can carry lots of luggage, as well.

This might be something fun to do in a gap year before or after college or as the ultimate stag or hen party. It could also be something you can do when you retire!

If you don’t have enough time, you could split the map into sections and take the ultimate road trip one stage at a time. If you were to break it down and do a piece every year, you would have more time for sightseeing in the cities you pass through, or for taking a hike in one of the wonderful national parks.
