    Renting a Car to Get Back to College

    Summer’s here and the heat is on, but many of us are planning a trip back to school in a few weeks, whether it’s as parents or as the student. For a lot of people, that’s a long road trip and if you don’t have a car, that trip just got a lot harder. Fox is here to help you, and here are a few suggestions how to remove one thing off of your To Do list!

    • Reserve your vehicle ahead of time. Our cars can book up quickly this time of year, and if you make your choice online ahead of time, you’ll have a larger selection of vehicles to choose from. 

    • Check out our Deals page before you book. Our coupons can offer over 10% off our already discounted rates, and sometimes we offer discounts on special car classes that may just fit the bill. (For example, a current coupon is for 10% off of standard SUVs, which may be just what you need to get your dorm room furniture, supplies and personal items to school and still leave plenty of room for you and any passengers to be comfortable!)

    • Also, review our policies when you book. Fox does rent to licensed drivers from 19 years of age and up, but there can be extra fees. It’s best to be aware of them ahead of time, as well as be prepared for any add-on insurances or other items you may prefer. This is a good time to read up on additional drivers to ensure you’re aware of any fees you may have if you want to swap a driver, such as mom or dad driving a portion of the trip.
    • Consider a one-way rental. Our one-way rentals take into consideration that you may not have a need to return your vehicle to the same location at which you picked it up. (Fox vehicles actually belong to the location from which they are retrieved, which can mean a drop off if you return it to a different city. That facilitates the return of the vehicle to its originating location.) A one-way rental can also be handy if you are flying for the remaining portion of a trip, so you can leave the vehicle at a new city and hop on a plane, as our locations are conveniently located at the airport or off-airport with a brief shuttle ride to your terminal.

    • Bring your ID and the form of payment you used to the counter. They will both need to match what you used to book the reservation. 

    • Read the vehicle descriptions when you book. Our reservation system shows typical sizes for luggage, passengers and more. This will help prevent any surprises upon picking up your car.
