  • Is foxrentacar.com the best way to reserve a car?

    Our best deals are always available on www.foxrentacar.com.

  • Can you reserve a specific make/model car for me?

    Unfortunately, no. However, we can guarantee you the rate you reserved. If we don’t have the car class available you reserved, we could upgrade you to next car class.

  • Do you require a credit card to make a reservation?

    FOX doesn’t require a credit card to make a reservation through FOX reservation center at 800-225-4369 ext. 1 or FOX website at www.foxrentacar.com. Other vendors/partners using our name/logo might need a credit card to make a reservation. It is better to call them to make sure the need of this requirement.

  • How do I cancel an existing reservation?

    If your reservation was confirmed directly with FOX Rent A Car by utilizing the reservation call center at 1-800-225-4369, or thru the FOX Rent A Car web page at www.foxrentacar.com, please use the same source to cancel your reservation. FOX does not charge a cancellation fee, but does request such cancellation notice as soon as travel plans have changed. Reservations will be honored for a period of four hours after the confirmed pick up date and time. Reservations confirmed for a pick up within the locations last three hours of operations, will be honored by that location up to 9 am the next day. If your reservation was confirmed through another provider (booking site, outside source, etc.), please use the same source to cancel your reservation. Some providers (booking site, outside source, etc.) may charge for the cancellation of a reservation if not cancelled within a specific time frame. Cancellation of a reservation directly thru FOX Rent A Car when confirmed thru another provider may not relieve your responsibility with that provider. In order to alleviate such charges (cancellation fee or penalty) check with the provider and cancel the reservation directly with the provider.

  • Where are your locations?

    FOX has eighteen (18) corporate airport locations: eight locations throughout California (Los Angeles, Burbank, San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland, San Diego, Orange County and Ontario), five locations throughout Florida (Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Fort Myers and Tampa), and additional airport locations in Las Vegas, Nevada; Phoenix, Arizona; Seattle, Washington; Denver, Colorado; Salt Lake City, Utah. Fox also has US affiliate locations in Billings, Montana; Kansas City, Missouri; Grand Rapids, Michigan and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.   • What types of vehicles do you offer?

    FOX Rent A Car has a wide range of vehicles to suit your car rental needs. From Economy to full size rental cars, FOX, your discount car rental company, has many different makes and models to choose from. At FOX, variety is the watchword as every month we update our car rental fleet to suit the needs of our customers. FOX in conjunction with EV Rental Cars, offers environmentally friendly hybrid vehicles for rent at all FOX corporate locations. For more details go to FOX vehicles.

  • Can I pick up at one location and return at another?

    Yes, a one way rental charge will be applied to your rental agreement. One way rentals are only available in between corporate locations in Washington, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and California only. Drop charges range from $20.00 to $500.00.

  • Do you require a deposit to rent a vehicle?

    Yes, $250.00 or estimated amount of rental charges plus 15% whichever is greater.

  • Can I use another person’s credit card to rent a vehicle?

    No, at the time of rental you would have to meet all qualifications. The name, address, drivers license and major credit card must match.

  • Do you rent cars by the hour?

    We required all customers to rent the vehicle for a minimum of 24 consecutives hours. If you returned vehicle prior to the 24 hours requirement, you will be charge for the full day regardless of whether you return the vehicle early.

  • Do you lease vehicles?

    No. A long term rental would constitute a maximum of 30 consecutive days.

  • Do you deliver vehicles?

    No. However FOX shuttle will pick you up from and to the airport.

  • Do you offer pick up service?

    No. Only from and to the airport.

  • Can I rent a car to take a driving test?

    No. Due to potential liability, you must have a valid drivers license.

  • Can I take the car out of the state in which I’m renting?

    Yes, however vehicles must remain in the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming only. (You may drive FOX vehicle into Mexico, only if you have purchased Mexico insurance).

  • Can take the vehicle out of the country in which I’m renting?

    Yes, the only country you may travel to is Mexico (close to the California and Arizona border), with the purchase of Mexico Insurance at FOX locations only: Los Angeles, San Diego, and Phoenix. See FOX policies for details.

  • May I use a FOX car to tow?

    No, towing is never permitted.

  • What if I receive a Parking Ticket or use a Toll Road?

    Parking tickets issued and use of Toll Roads during the rental period is the financial responsibility of the renter. Any/All charges for Parking Tickets or Use of a Toll Road that go unpaid are issued to the registered owner of the vehicle. In turn, the renters’ credit card is charged for All/Any charges associated with Unpaid Parking Tickets and/or Toll Usage plus a service charge for each unpaid item. In order to avoid such charges the renter will need to: Pay parking tickets directly to the issuing municipality upon receiving the ticket. Only access Toll Roads that allow for payment when entering. Avoid entering Toll Roads that require some type of PASS. These Toll Roads do not allow for payment at time of use.

  • How is my rental rate calculated?

    The rates are based on a 24 hour rental day starting with the hour you pick up the vehicle.

  • Does the cost of the rental include fuel?

    FOX’s rates do not include fuel.

  • Do you charge to refuel vehicle?

    Yes. Vehicles must be returned with the same amount of fuel as at the start of the rental to avoid refueling charges.

  • How does grace period apply?

    A rental day is each 24 hour time period commencing with the date/time indicated on the rental agreement (contract) at the time of rental. There is a 59 minutes grace period for return. Hourly charges may apply after this grace period. After three hours full-day charge may apply.

  • Will any other fees apply?

    Yes. For FOX and other rental car companies at many airport locations, airport concession and facility fees may be charged. Please check for fees that apply to your rental in the rate section during reservation process. Other products or additional equipment that you add at the counter will be extra. When you make your reservation on line you will see the breakdown of all taxes and fees including in your total quote. Pursuant to California law, starting January 1, 2007, all rentals will be charged and airport concession fee of up to 11.1% and a tourism assessment fee 2.5%. Actual charges will be calculated at the time of rental.

  • What are surcharges?

    Taxes, fees and other charges always vary by location. A breakdown of all surcharges will be showed to you on the online reservation process.

  • Why am I being bill for surcharges?

    Surcharges are mandated for all car rentals by the local municipality, state/federal or airport authorities.

  • How much do you charge to rent a child safety seat?

    There is a $8.99 per day fee for child seat.

  • Is my child safety seat guaranteed to be there at the time of arrival?

    We do not guarantee the availability of child safety seat. FOX inventory is based on first-come, first-served basis.

  • What type of child seat do you offer?

    Seat Types : • Infant seats : Are installed rear-facing on to recline at a 45-degree angle. May be without the detachable base. • Convertible seat : Designed for children from newborn to 40 pounds or 40 inches tall. Seat can be installed either rear- or forward-facing. • Booster seat : Booster seat raises the child so the car’s lap and shoulder belt fit properly and child’s knees bend naturally. Child should use booster seat is: Weighs 40-80 pounds. Seat belts don’t fit properly until children weigh about 80 pounds and are 4’9”.

  • Do you have GPS available for rent?

    Yes, we do have GPS units available for rent at $9.99 per day. Please ask for details at the time of rental.

    The FOX reward program is the most rewarding program in the car rental industry. You’ll earn 4 points for every dollar you spend.

  • How do I sign up for the rewards program?

  • How does FOX rewards program works?

    Every time you rent a car from FOX on the www.foxrentacar.com web site. You will earn 4 points for every dollar you spend.

  • How can I accumulate points?

    The more you book with FOX Rent A Car the more points will be earning.

  • How can I redeem my points?

    There are two ways to redeem your points. 1) Choose SuperCertificates FOX selected GiftCertificats.com™ for its rewards program to bring you valuable SuperCertificate. A SuperCertificate from GiftCertificates.com lets you choose original gift certificates from hundreds of your favorite stores, restaurants, airlines, hotels, spas, and theaters including Bath & Body Works, Macy’s, Hollywood Video® and many others. 2) Choose FoxBucks® Redeem your points for FoxBucks to pay for your rental with FOX Rent A Car. You can redeem your FoxBucks through the FOX web site.

  • How do I review my points?

    Log into your Fox Rewards account and check your total points. You will be given the option to exchange these points for a SuperCertificate or redeem them for FoxBucks.

Paying for my rental Open All / Close All

  • How can I pay for my rental?

    Debit cards:
    In order to use a Debit Card as a method of payment at Time of Rental the following policy must be met:

    1. Debit Card must have a Visa, Master Card or Discover logo.

    2. Debit Card and Driver’s License must be in same name.

    3. Renters must present a return airline ticket/confirmation (actual or electronic ticket in renter’s name) OR If you do not present a return airline ticket/confirmation or your primary residence is within 150 miles of the rental location FOX will check your credit through Equifax Credit Information Services. The inquiry is posted on the customer’s credit report and may have an effect on the customer’s credit evaluation. In the event that a customer’s credit inquiry fails to meet our Debit Card criteria, the customer will not be allowed to rent unless they provide a major credit card in their own name. Address as stated on renter’s Valid driver’s license will be referenced to determine renter’s primary residence.

    5. Debit Card must have available funds of: (Funds taken as a deposit at time of rental) Return Airline Ticket - USD/200.00 or estimated amount of rental charges plus $100.00 whichever is greater. Credit Inquiry Thru Equifax- (renter lives within 150 miles of rental location) USD/200.00 plus estimated amount of rental charges to be taken as a deposit at time of rental. Rental (on a credit inquiry) is permitted of vehicle classes Economy, Compact, Midsize, Standard, Full-size and Minivan only.

    Upon return of the vehicle unused funds will be returned through the credit card processor. Due to your Banks processing standards for Debit Card transactions it can take up to 14 days for a credit to appear on your account. FOX will not be responsible for any returned check (s) or insufficient fund charges or bank fees related to this process.

    NOTE: FOX does not allow rentals using a Debit Card to: 1. Add additional drivers to the rental agreement.

    Our debit card policy complies with all applicable U.S. federal and State Laws.

    Major credit cards:
    1. Valid driver’s license and credit card must be in the same name.
    2. Credit card must have available funds of USD/200.00 or estimated amount of rental charges plus USD/$100.00 whichever is greater. If renters Primary residence is within 150 mile radius of the rental location the Credit Card must have available funds of USD/300.00 or estimated amount of rental charges plus USD/$100.00 whichever is greater. Address as stated on renter’s valid driver’s license will be referenced to determine renter’s primary residence.
    3. At time of rental credit card funds will be taken as a deposit against rental charges.
    All required available funds will be captured as a deposit at time of rental. Unused funds will be returned through the credit card processor after vehicle return. Due to bank processing it can take between 2 to 5 days to appear on your account when using this form of payment.

    NOTE:
    • Address as stated on renter’s valid driver’s license will be referenced to determine renter’s primary residence.
    • All required available funds will be captured as a deposit at time of rental. Unused funds will be returned through the credit card processor after vehicle return. Due to bank processing it can take between 2 to 5 days to appear back on your account when using this form of payment
    • We do not accept the miniature key tag style credit cards.

    Payment at car return: Debit cards, prepaid Visa/MasterCard, and cash always accepted as payment upon return

    Cash rentals:
    (Cash is not accepted as a method of payment at time of rental at our Phoenix AZ. or Oakland CA., locations)

    In order to utilize CASH (as opposed to major credit card) as a qualifying Method of Payment at Time of Rental, the following seven conditions must be satisfied:
    1. Have a reservation - Available on rental of vehicle class Economy thru Full Size only.
    2. Present a current valid Passport from a country other than the United States.
    3. Present a valid International License along with a current valid license from same country as passport.
    4. Present a return airline itinerary with confirmation of return travel date. Vehicle must be returned prior to return date and time of departure as stated on flight confirmation itinerary. 5. In U.S. currency, leave a Cash Deposit of USD/250.00 plus estimated amount of rental charges.
    6. A U.S. Contact Phone Number - an operating phone to be contacted in case of emergency while the vehicle is on rent.
    7. Unused funds will be mailed back to customer within 2 weeks after car return.

    Special/Premium Elite Vehicles: May be available and would require a major credit card with available funds of USD/250.00 plus the estimated charges taken as deposit at time of rental - no debit / check cards or cash rentals. Minimum age is 25 and vehicles must be returned to the renting location.

    Prepaid cards:
    Prepaid Visa/MasterCard are not accepted as a form of payment at time of rental.

    Payment at car return:
    Debit cards, prepaid Visa/MasterCard, and cash always accepted as payment upon return.

  • Can I pay with cash?

    Yes, cash always accepted as payment upon return.

  • Which credit, charge and debit cards do you accept?

    At the time of rental we required a major credit card, American Express, Diners Club, Discovery, JCB, MasterCard and Visa.

  • Can I use a “key ring” (miniature) credit card when I rent a car?

    No, we do not accept the miniature key tag style credit cards. A standard size credit card is required to rent a vehicle with FOX.

  • Can I pay with a different credit card than the one use for deposit?

    Yes, you may change credit card for payment at the time of return.

  • Can I use someone else credit card for payment?

    No. At the time of rental, the renter is required to present a valid drivers license and major credit card with his/her name imprinted on it.

Purchasing Insurance Protections Open All / Close All

  • What insurance do you offer while am renting?

    Insurance Types : • Optional Insurance not required rent a vehicle. Details available at rental counter. • Rental liability coverage (RLP) Primary insurance protecting you against claims made by third party for bodily injury and/or property damage sustained while operating the rental vehicle, up to the required financial responsibility limits of the state in which the vehicle is license. Does not cover all situations that may arise while operating a rental vehicle. Cost: $12.99 per rental day. • Supplemental Liability Coverage (SLP) This coverage is excess over underlying insurance specific within your signed rental agreement up to 1,000,000 dollars. Protects you against claims made by third party for bodily injury and/or property damage sustained as a result of an accident while operating the rental vehicle. Does not cover all situations that may arise while operating a rental vehicle. Cost: $11.99 per rental day. • Personal Property/Personal Accident Coverage (PPC) Personal property coverage protects against damage to personal effects owned by the renter, as well as immediate family members of the renter, who permanently reside in the renters household and are traveling with the renter. Personal accident coverage provides accidental death and accidental medical expense benefit to the renter and their passenger (s). The death and medical expense benefit will both pay in addition to any other coverage that might be applicable to the renter or passengers. Cost: $7.99 per rental day. • Loss Damage Waiver (This is not insurance) this is a waiver for damage to the rental vehicle only. When accepted at the time of rental FOX Rent a Car will waive the right to collect for damages to the rental vehicle when the vehicle involved in an accident. Cost: Economy, compact and midsize $9.00 per rental day / standard, full size, SUV, mini van, convertibles, luxury, premium, specialty $15.00 per rental day and $22.99 per day for Premium SUV's in California locations only. • Mexico Insurance FOX offers the purchase of Mexico Insurance (Major credit card only) on vehicle rentals of economy thru full size only. Mexico insurance must be purchase at a FOX location in Los Angeles, San Diego or Phoenix at the time of rental or prior to entrance into Mexico. Rates start at $25.00 per 24 hour day including tax. Hybrids and other vehicles not allowed traveling into Mexico. Travel is allowed to cities in Mexico close to California and Arizona border.

  • What are the benefits of purchasing the insurance?

    The purchasing of any FOX optional protections provides you with peace of mind and assurance that you are protected against any damage.

  • Am I required to take the insurance?

    No, the purchase of Optional Insurance is not required to rent a vehicle. Details available at rental counter.

  • Does my own insurance protect me in the event of an accident?

    You should call your own auto insurance company for more information.

  • Do you offer insurance replacement while the car I own is being serviced?

    No.

  • Can I return vehicle to another FOX location?

    Yes, a one way rental charge will be applied to your rental agreement. One way rentals are only available in between corporate locations in Washington, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and California only. Drop charges range from $20.00 to $500.00 depending on the location.

  • What happens if I don’t return my car on the designated return date?

    You must extend your rental dates through FOX website (rental extensions) or calling 1-310-641-3838 ext. 414 to avoid penalties, fees, calls and letters asking to return the vehicle (Phoenix rentals must be in person). If vehicle is kept longer than the return date stated on the rental agreement (contract), the rate will increase by $10.00 per day. The increased rate will be charged for each day after due return date, until the vehicle is returned. To extend a rental contract in PHX, customers need to do it in person at the location.

  • What should I do if I have problems with my car?

    Call the rental location at the phone number provided on the rental agreement.

  • What should I do if am involved in an accident?

    First you should call the police to complete an accident report, the immediately contact FOX by call 1-800-225-4369.

  • What should I do if I get a flat tire?

    Drive the car to a safe place and change the tire; then contact the rental location at the phone number provided on the rental agreement.

  • What if I accidentally lock keys in the vehicle?

    If a customer accidentally locked key in the trunk or in the vehicle, they are fully responsible for all charges and must contact locksmith and then contact the rental location at the phone number provided in the rental agreement.

  • Lost keys

    FOX does not provide with spare keys. If you are in the event where you lost or misplaced keys, you need to contact FOX location where you rented the vehicle (or call 1-800-225-4369) to let you know how you can get a duplicate. Because the majority of FOX vehicles are new, to make a duplicate is very sophisticated and need dealership involvement. You will be responsible for dealer charges.

  • Does FOX offer road side assistance?

    Yes. FOX has an emergency 24 hours toll free number (877)936-9349 to assist you when stranded roadside. This toll free number is available for all rentals originating at Fox corporate locations.

  • What if I run out of fuel?

    Customer is fully responsible.

  • How do I reserve a ‘Pay Now’ reservation?

    Sign onto www.foxrentacar.com and select the ‘Pay Now’ option in Step 2 ‘Select Your Vehicle/Add Ons’ of the reservations process.

  • Can other discounts be applied to ‘Pay Now’ rates?

    No, other discounts cannot be applied to FOX ‘Pay Now’ rates.

  • Can I cancel my ‘Pay Now’ reservation? Is there a fee?

    Yes, you can cancel your ‘Pay Now’ reservation. The fees vary depending on when you cancel your reservation. If you cancel more than 12 hours from your scheduled pick up time – the cancellation fee is $15, and if you cancel from 0-12 hours from your scheduled pick up time – the cancellation fee is $25.   • Can I modify my ‘Pay Now’ reservation?

    No. If you need to modify your ‘Pay Now’ reservation, you will need to cancel and rebook your FOX reservation. If you cancel, the cancellation fees apply to the original reservation.

  • Which FOX locations offer the ‘Pay Now’ program?

    Only FOX corporate owned locations: LAX, SFO, SJC, OAK, BUR, SAN, OAK, SNA, PHX, SEA, SLC, DEN, MIA, FLL, MCO, TPA, RSW, LAS.

  • What are the credit card and debit card policies for ‘Pay Now’?

    The standard FOX credit card and debit policies apply. See Rental Policies area of www.foxrentacar.com for full information on credit card/debit card/Pay Now program policies, or see Customer Contact center representative for assistance.

  • What are the standard rules of the ‘Pay Now’ program?

    - Availability of the FOX Pay Now rates or discount is limited, is subject to change without notice, may be subject to blackout dates and is void where prohibited by law.
    - You must meet standard FOX renter, age, driver and credit requirements.
    - If using a credit card for payment, you must present the same credit card used to secure your FOX Pay Now Reservation at the rental counter.
    - 24 hour advance reservation is required. Rental periods are based on 24 hour periods, beginning at time of pick up.
    - FOX Pay Now program is only available at FOX Rent A Car corporate locations, and subject to change without notice.
